Due Thursday, 2/2 at 11:59 pm — Press release based on the excerpt from All Quiet on the Western Front.
Due Friday, 2/3 at 11:59 pm — PowerPoint describing a technological advance that contributed to WWI (Flamethrower, machine gun, mustard gas, etc.). 3 information slides with one picture per slide.
Due Monday, 2/6 at 11:59 pm — Letter home from the front in Adobe Premiere set to still color images from WWI. 45 seconds for WHII, 1 minute for honors.
Students will create an advertisement uncovering the other side of the diamond industry. They will choose an ad and edit that ad in Photoshop. They will then complete a PowerPoint with the following slides:
Slide 1: Name and edited image
Slide 2: Original image with a description of what they were trying to say
Slide 3: Your edited image with a description (why did you choose this, what are you trying to say, etc.)

Think about the industrialization process in the country you were assigned and the resources needed to fuel it. In a five paragraph essay, how did the Industrial Revolution lead to your assigned country imperializing other countries?

Charles I was a little extreme in his dealings with Parliament. Take the role of an advisor and draft a memo to the King advising him of how to deal with the stalemate with Parliament. Your goal should be to convince the King to ease up while still maintaining the upper hand so he doesn’t lose his head.
Instructions for setting up your notebook on your computer:
1. Open Microsoft Word
2. Go to file and then select new document
3. In the search bar at the top of the window that opens type notebook and press enter
4. Select composition notebook
5. Change name on the cover to your name
6. Select view and then two-pages view
7. Type English Civil War at the top of the 2nd page (the first notebook page)
8. Scroll down to pages 3 and 4
9. Type Homework at the top of page 3 and Notes at the top of page 4
10. Continue to take notes on all pages that follow page 4. Do not skip any pages. You may zoom in to make it easier to read what you are typing but make sure to go back to two-pages view before turning this assignment in. This file should be saved as English Civil War and should be saved in your notebook folder within the WHII folder.
Today in WHII and WHIIH we set up our notebooks on the computers and then took notes on the English Civil War. After we finish the notes tomorrow, we will assign the homework which will be due Friday at 11:59 pm on turnitin.com. This will conclude our study of European Monarchs.
Next week, students will participate in a mock trial in which they will try a series of monarchs on charges that they hurt their country through disregard for basic human rights, waste of money on extravagant buildings, and costly wars.
